Simon Gate and Edward Hald developed the Graal Technique in 1917 at the swedish glass manufacture Orrefors.
The first stage of the graal is to create a blank, which has a variety of layers of coloured glass. Our blanks have a coloured inlay and three to four colourec overlays.
The blank is cold worked by the means of grinding or sandblasting to create the design.
After many hours of reheating the blank is picked up again and it can be covered with clear glass and is blown to its final shape.
